An American angler named Nolan Sprengeler set a record on November 22 after catching a muskie weighing 55 pounds and 14 ounces with his friends Kevin Kray and Zack Skoglund. Nolan shared an image with the fish narrating the story of catching it on Instagram.
The Minnesota resident broke the state record of catching muskie of 54 pounds on Lake Winnibigoshish in 1957. He described their struggle in pulling 57.75 inches by 29 inches muskie out of Mille Lacs Lake on November 22, around 9 PM. He said that Kray netted the fish after he felt the Muskellunge’s pull, and then they dragged it to the boat.
Eventually, they reached the Minnesota DNR agency to get the muskie catch recognized. The agency certified the record weight, while social media spread the news across the state.
