NDP leader Jagmeet Singh took the stage at events across Ontario in ridings his party has identified as potential wins this week.
On Tuesday he visited York South—Weston, where he announced the NDP’s proposal to earmark funds for flood mitigation. Liberal MP Ahmed Hussen, currently represents this riding.
On Wednesday and Thursday, Singh visited candidate Emilie Taman in Ottawa Centre, another former NDP seat that now belongs to a Liberal cabinet member. Environment Minister Catherine McKenna defeated New Democrat incumbent Paul Dewar there in 2015.
Singh will then swing by Welland, before returning to his old stomping ground- Brampton where he will attend the Carabram festival before heading off to Toronto—Danforth, the riding held by the late party luminary Jack Layton.
Singh will tour Quebec next week, and visit the Atlantic later this summer, but will spend much of his July in the GTA and Toronto, a region painted almost entirely Liberal red in the 2015 election. -CINEWS
