The Mississauga Arts Council has announced the Nominations for the 23rdAnnual Mississauga Arts Awards are now open and the deadline is Friday March 31st.
The time is now for artists to find someone to nominate them and carefully select the best category for their work, as MAC cannot accept artist or group nominations for more than one category.

This year, 12 MARTY Awards will be given out to established category winners.
Eight Certificates of Excellence will be given to the Outstanding Emerging Talent in each of the major award categories:
• Literary Arts
• Media Arts
• Theatre Arts
• Visual Arts
• Music – Solo
• Music – Group
• Creative Design – (incl. graphic design, architecture, culinary arts and fashion design)
Besides there are Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award:
1. Festival of the Year Award (NEW)
2. Laurie Pallett Patron of the Arts Award
3. Hazel McCallion Volunteer of the Year
For the first time, the MARTY Award will be standardized and consistent for years to come.
The gorgeous new MARTY is designed and made by Crystal Sensations, the same company that makes the Juno and the Hot Docs awards!
Last year was the biggest MARTY Awards ever and we intend to go further this year. Over 700 creative Mississaugans and supporters of the arts are expected to attend the 23rd Annual MARTY Awards on May 18th at the Mississauga Convention Centre. Red Carpet begins at 6 – 7pm, show begins after 7.
Mayor Crombie will be speaking on the future of arts in Mississauga and announcing the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award, live musical performances will feature past MARTY Award winners and Hazel McCallion will be on hand to salute the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year!
Tickets for the MARTYS go on sale in April. – CINEWS
