Malkit Singh a household name in Brampton’s large Punjabi community will be the headliner for the fifth Annual Holi Gala to raise money for the Osler Health System Foundation.
The gala to be held on April 7 at the Pearson Convention Center in Brampton, is presented by Interstate Freight Systems (IFS).
Singh has been called the King of Bhangra. His trademark song ‘Tutak Tutak Toothiyan’ is considered the bestselling Bhangra song of all time and has earned him a platinum record for his album ‘Up Front’.
Singh also made it to the Guinness World Records as the bestselling Bhangra Solo Artist in the World, with sales of over 4.9 million records in his 20-year career.
Shiamak Davar Dance, from Toronto, will also perform during the event.
Not only is Holi a time of celebration and unofficially marks the beginning of spring; it is a time when our community comes together to support local health care, according to Dr. Gurjit Bajwa and Dr. Vandana Ahluwalia, who are committee co-chairs of the Holi Gala committee for the Osler Foundation Office.
Tickets are on sale now for the gala. Organizers are hoping to raise more than $450,000 for redevelopment and equipment at Osler’s three hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital and Brampton’s Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
