Peel’s 7th homicide victim is a 20-year-old

Peel Regional Police is appealing for witnesses after identifying the region’s seventh homicide victim of the year following a shooting at a townhouse complex last week in Brampton.

On Friday June 21 night, police said officers responded to a 911 call in the area of Orenda and McCallum Courts at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 where they discovered the victim, 20-year-old Gurjot Dhaliwal from Brampton, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Dhaliwal was transported to a trauma centre where he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators said they believe there are still witnesses they have not yet spoken to and are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3205.
