Aamir Khan starrer Dangal has been passed with no cuts and given a ‘U’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The lead actor and producer Aamir Khan, who plays wrestler Mahavir in the film, had said that he was expecting a ‘U’ certificate from the CBFC since his film was essentially about a family.
“It’s a universal film, it is about children, it’s the story of a family. Ours will be more of a family film. I thought it will be a ‘U’ film,” he said.
Sakshi Tanwar plays Mahavir’s wife Daya Shobha Kaur in the film while Fatima Saina Shaikh and Sania Malhotra play his daughters Geeta and Babita respectively, whom Mahavir trains so that they can represent India in wrestling at the Olympic level.
“Dangal is about the empowerment of the girl child. Not only do we feel it should be seen by every man, woman and child we also feel it should be granted tax exemption so that more people would be able to watch it,” said a member of the CBFC.
Aamir Khan also praised his ‘Dangal’ co-star Sakshi Tanwar.
“It was wonderful (working with Sakshi). Sakshi was a dream to work with. She is so talented. I can’t remember a single shot in the film where she had to do a retake. She give a shot in just one take. Not once but all the time,” Aamir told reporters, during a promotions of his film ‘Dangal’.
“She gives a heartfelt shot. There is skill and heart in her shots…it was a joy for me to work with her,” he added.
Aamir also said Sakshi who has appeared in many television serials is a “warm and happy” person. “I would love to work with her again,” he added.
In ‘Dangal’, Aamir plays the role of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat.
Dangal is one of the most difficult films he has acted.
He had to undergo rigorous workout sessions for the role as he had to previously gain weight going from 68 kg to 93 kg in six months for his role of the ageing wrestler during the first phase of the film’s shoot.
The film also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra.
‘Dangal’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is scheduled to release on December 23. – CINEWS
