Halton Police have an updated description to provide for Amritpal Singh Aujla (28) of Brampton.
Aujla was last seen wearing a blue track suit (not black as indicated in the original release).
He also was wearing an orange turban. The above photo of Aujla was attached to this media release.
The Halton Regional Police Service can also confirm that Aujla was in custody at Maplehurst Correctional Complex awaiting a video court appearance on August 18, 2020 for charges laid by Peel Regional Police.
Anyone with information about his location is asked to contact police.
Earlier Halton police released a press statement that they are searching for a prisoner who was released by mistake from the Maplehurst Correctional Complex on Monday night.
Around 11 p.m. police were contacted by staff from the Maplehurst Correctional Complex that the prisoner had been released and that help was needed to locate him.
Amritpal Singh Aujla, 28, was last seen leaving the correctional complex on foot.
He is described as South Asian, about five feet 10 inches tall, with a slim build, shoulder length black hair, and a black beard.
He was said to have been last seen wearing a Tommy Hilfiger track suit with a large Tommy Hilfiger symbol printed in the middle of the chest. He was also carrying a black backpack.
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding Aujla but say if you see him, don’t approach him, but call 911.
