Actor R Madhavan has said that now he wants to take up romantic roles on screen, which are “age-appropriate”.
In a recent interview, the actor said that he no longer wants to romance a young girl on camera. Madhavan also spoke about how he chooses the films he wants to act in and then reveals that he wanted to be an actor but never “trained” to be one.
R Madhavan became popular after the release of the Tamil movie, ‘Alaipayuthey’ in 2000, which was followed by ‘Minnale’ which also released that same year. His Hindi debut was ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ in 2001, which was the remake of ‘Minnale’. Since then, Madhavan has acted in many movies like ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Dil Vil Pyar Vyar’, ‘Guru’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu 1 and 2’, ‘3 Idiots’ and more.
He has also been a part of TV shows like ‘Aarohan’, ‘Banegi Apni Baat’, ‘Sea Hawks’, ‘Ghar Jamai’ and ‘Saaya’.
In an interview with PTI news agency, R Madhavan said, “I have to be age-appropriate in my roles. It is not that I am romancing a young girl now. It is not something that I want to do. If I am offered a romantic film, it has to be age-appropriate or have content that makes me viable for me to be part of it. I go by where I am, emotionally. If it appeals to me, I do it. It is always instinctive.”
He also added, “It was all about finding my own path. I realised early on in my life that nobody can predict anything about the industry. All I did was pursue things that made me happy and see if I was playing the cards correctly. I didn’t want to be an actor, I never trained to be one. I had no one from my family in the industry, I did not know anybody but I’m still here. I must have done something right.”
Madhavan is currently promoting his upcoming release, ‘Rocketry – The Nambi Effect’. He has starred in and directed this biopic which is based on the life of ISRO’s space scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was falsely accused of espionage in the year 1994.
Besides, Madhavan, the movie stars Vincent Riotta, Phyllis Logan, Rajit Kapur, Rona Donachie, Simran, Ravi Raghavendra, Gulshan Grover, Misha Ghoshal, Dinesh Prabhakar and Karthik Kumar. Shahrukh Khan and Suriya have played cameos in the movie in the Hindi and Tamil version respectively.
The movie is slated to release in cinemas this Friday, July 1, 2022. The movie was simultaneously shot in Hindi, Tamil and English. It has been dubbed in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada.
