Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi who made the iconic timeless comedy ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ in 1994 has revealed that he is working on the sequel to the cult comedy.
‘Andaz Apna Apna’ when it released was considered a flop at the box office. But over the years the movie has developed a cult following and is one of the most watched hilarious classic comedies of Hindi cinemas.
The movie starred Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in the lead as ‘Amar’ and ‘Prem’ respectively. The female leads were played by Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. In the 90s all these 4 stars were at the top of their game and this was considered an ‘all-star’ cast movie.
It has been 28 years since ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ released and Rajkumar Santoshi, the director of the film is asked even today if he is planning a sequel.
Reporters caught up with him when he attended Aamir Khan’s birthday bash. Finally offering a glimmer of hope to fans of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ the filmmaker said that he was working on script. But he added a disclaimer saying he will only proceed if he is happy with the final story. He also added that only when the script was done, would he even think about casting.
The filmmaker said that he and Aamir meet occasionally and that he had gone to Aamir’s place to wish him a happy birthday. He added that since it was a family event, they did not discuss work, although the two of them did reminisce about their shooting days on the sets of ‘Andaz Apna Apna’.
