Ranveer Singh at Dubai Expo: dances with India’s I&B Minister Anurag Thakur


The Dubai Expo is in its final days – the mega world fair which opened in Dubai on October 1, 2021 was open to visitors and tourists for six months and will be closing its doors on March 31, 2022.

The Expo, which is still dubbed as Expo 2020 was originally supposed to happen in 2020, but got postponed by a year due to Covid.

In the last six months, the Expo has seen countless celebrities, various concerts and world leaders in attendance and the latest to join is actor Ranveer Singh, who visited the site with India’s Information and Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur for a discussion on ‘The Global Reach of Indian Media & Entertainment Industry’ at the India Pavilion.

Ranveer who is known for his quirky fashion choices usually, toned it down to suit up in a traditional sherwani, but ensured he popped as it was a bright red colour.

He created quite a frenzy in the audience with his appearance and he made the paparazzi and fans very happy as he even paused to click photos outside the venue and greeted his fans.

During the event, the Minister Anurag Thakur said that the aim of his ministry was to make India a content creating hub that would generate ‘millions of jobs’ in the country while catering to global demands of content. He said, “India is a land of storytelling…India should be the hub. And, I personally feel, my aim in the next few years is that India should be the content sub-continent of the world.”

Ranveer agreed with the minister and said, “What we tell, can travel the world so easily now,”

During his interaction in the event, Ranveer earned massive applause for praising Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’. He said, “Just look at RRR for example. It is beating all the Bollywood films at the box office. It is such a proud moment for us,” he even sang the chorus of “Naatu Naatu”. Watch it here:

Ranveer Singh also spoke about Indian cinema and proudly said, “Our stories resonate with people and transcend cultural boundaries and Indians abroad connect with India through films… Indian entertainment is going to explode globally.”

Being Ranveer Singh, he even danced to his famous ‘Malhaari’ song and in true Ranveer Singh style made sure Anurag Thakur, the I&B Minister also got into the Bollywood spirit and shook a leg or two with him.
