Toronto Raptors superfan Nav Bhatia has been inducted into the basketball hall of fame for 2021.
This weekend Bhatia became the first honoree to grace the hall’s new James Goldstein Superfan Gallery.
The 69-year-old, who has attended every single Raptors home game since the franchise first launched in 1995, was honoured Sunday at the unveiling of the gallery at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
His display includes the first turban in the hall of fame, as well as a replica of his championship ring, a superfan bobble head, custom superfan shoes, his courtside seat and the original Raptors jersey he was presented in 1998 that declared Bhatia a “superfan.”
“It is beyond my wildest dreams to be honored in the same building as some of the greats in the game,” said Bhatia in a press release.
The Raptors superfan now has a Basketball Hall of Fame ring to add to his collection.
“I have absolutely no issues in making this a regular occurrence,” Bhatia tweeted. “Honoured and humbled to receive this ring from (Baron Championship Rings) and (Basketball Hall of Fame). I wear this with immense pride and responsibility to carry on spreading the game I love.”
