Ricky Martin seems to be fielding one accusation after another. Just a while earlier in the month, he denied allegations of domestic abuse and now there is yet another accusation, this time from a family member who alleged that Ricky Martin was in an incestuous relationship with his own nephew and that the relationship lasted seven months.
As per Entertainment Weekly, Ricky Martin’s attorney, Marty Singer has said that these claims are “disgusting” and “untrue” and the attorney further said that these will be dismissed as soon as the case comes before a judge.
As per Singer’s statement, it read, “Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.”
The statement further read, “The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
On Friday, July 13, a website reported that Ricky’s brother, Eric Martin was the one who revealed that the accuser happens to be Ricky’s nephew and the allegation was that they had been in a relationship for seven months. Ricky Martin, for now, is due to appear in court on July 21, when a judge will determine if the restraining order against him should remain as is. For now, it is unclear as to what charges will be levied against the singer but laws against incest differ from state to state in the US itself, but when it comes to Puerto Rico, the laws are especially harsh. If, found guilty and convicted, Ricky Martin could be looking at prison sentence of 50 years.
