Rohit Shetty on South movies vs. Bollywood: “Why do you want to divide us?”

The ongoing debate between Bollywood and South Indian movies seems unending and media houses have asked big stars like Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut, Varun Dhawan as well as several stars in South India also to share their thoughts on this debate.

Now it seems the latest Bollywood celebrity to share his two cents on the ongoing debate about north vs south movies debate is ace filmmaker Rohit Shetty.

Rohit Shetty was asked to weigh in on the debate and he said that these debates will be never-ending. He added that six months ago people were busy discussing nepotism and now everyone is talking about Bollywood vs. South Indian movies, and that seems to be the latest topic trending these days.

He then asked the media to not divide the Indian movie industry. In an interview with Prabhat Khabar, Rohit Shetty said, “A new debate begins all the time. It was nepotism six months ago, and now it is south Indian films versus Bollywood. Hindi cinema is over. “

The ‘Singham’ filmmaker said that it was the quality of the movie that audience should focus on and not the language of the movie. Shetty further added, “I just want to ask ‘why do you want to divide us?’ We are all one, we must all make good films.”

Recently, Rohit Shetty had also called out people who got cheap thrills in pulling Bollywood down.

On the work front, Rohit Shetty is working on his debut OTT web series called, ‘Indian Police Force’, which stars Siddharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi and Shilpa Shetty in important roles. This show is reportedly a part of Shetty’s cop-verse, which includes the ‘Singham’ franchise, ‘Sooryavanshi’ and ‘Simmba’.

Rohit Shetty is also coming back on TV to host the daredevil adventure reality show, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ for its twelfth season.
