The City of Brampton is raising awareness about safety in a fun and informative way, in association with Parachute Canada.

Fun and family activities begin on  on Friday, May 27, from 4:30 to 8:30 pm at Century Gardens Recreation Centre. Residents are invited to learn about kids’ safety by touring information booths and enjoying a rock climbing wall and other fun activities.

A variety of community partners will help the City celebrate this kick-off to Parachute Safe Kids Week, which runs nationally from May 30 to June 5.  Representatives from Brampton Fire and Emergency Services, Animal Services, Peel Regional Police, Peel Public Health, Brampton Emergency Measures and many other groups will be on hand with safety tips, information and giveaways.

“Although safety of our children is a priority for any parent – we rarely discuss how to avoid injuries with our children,” said Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey.  “This event allows us to share information in fun and interactive ways that will help keep our kids safe and help them maintain a healthy and active life.”

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Parachute Safe Kids week, an annual campaign that aims to raise awareness about preventable injury in children in communities across the country. “We want kids to get outside and be active, but we want them to do it safely,” said Louise Logan, Parachute President and CEO. “We can decrease injury and death by continuing to make safety a top priority At Home, At Play, and On the Road. But it takes all of us caring together to make it happen so we are grateful to the City of Brampton for helping us share life saving information.” – CINEWS
