Salman Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala were reuniting after ‘Kick’ to work on ‘Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali’. The buzz was that Sajid was also constructing a set for the movie in Filmcity, Mumbai. Now it seems the actor-producer duo have hit a roadblock in their discussions, the result of which is that Sajid Nadiadwala has bowed out of the project and the film will now be released under Salman Khan’s production house – Salman Khan Films.
All this has transpired in the last 10 days when Salman Khan started his schedule for ‘Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali’. Evidently the title of the movie is also likely to be changed to ‘Bhaijaan’ now.
A source close to Sajid Nadiadwala’s production house told Bollywood Hungama, “Following the failure of commercial films like ‘Baaghi 3’, ‘Tadap’, and more importantly ‘Bachchan Paandey’, Sajid Nadiadwala felt that there was a need to rethink the prospects of ‘Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali’. He wanted to rework the budget, and script and even rethink the entire setup of the film, including the casting of key characters. Salman on the other hand believed in the script and wanted to take it to the floors as soon as possible. He felt there was no connection between the failure of Sajid’s recent films and Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. Salman had kept his date diaries open for this venture.”
Salman Khan, did not want to compromise on the script, cast or the budget and wanted to make the movie under his banner. He reportedly got Sajid Nadiadwala to transfer the title of the movie and even acquired the script and will be producing the movie under the SKF banner.
The Filmcity set that was under progress is now being dismantled as Salman Khan will be constructing a set for the movie in the outskirts of Mumbai. He has already asked his team to start the pre-production work
As things stand, Nadiadwala Grandsons is no longer associated with ‘Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali‘. However, there is no indication of a personal conflict between both parties. They have both known each other for 30 years and one never knows how things eventually turn out in the industry.
The movie will now go on the floors in the month of May and is expected to release in cinemas on December 30, 2022.
