Samuel L. Jackson joins the cast of animated feature film, ‘Garfield’

Actor Samuel L. Jackson joins fellow Marvel co-star Chris Pratt in the animated movie, ‘Garfield’ which is currently underway at Alcon Entertainment.

Jackson will be essaying the role of a completely new character, Vic, who is Garfield’s father.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Pratt was announced earlier to voice the Monday-hating, lasagne loving comic strip legend ‘Garfield’ in the new animated movie. The movie has been based on the script which has been penned by David Reynolds and the movie will be directed by Mark Dindal.

Sony Pictures has taken on the mantle of distributing the movie globally to all countries, except China.

The movie is being animated and produced by DNEG Animation along with Alcon Entertainment. Steven P. Wegner and John Cohen are producing this feature along with co-CEOs and Alcon co-founders, Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Executive producers attached to this project include, Amuse’s Craig Sost and Bridget McMeel, DNEG President Tom Jacomb and CEO Namit Malhotra.

This upcoming animated feature is the first movie of the ‘Garfield’ franchise since 2009 and will follow the movie, ‘Garfield: Per Force’.

Prior to this, the live action/CGI hybrid movies ‘Garfield: The Movie’ and ‘Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties’ released years ago in theatres in the year 2004 and 2006 respectively. For both those movies, the legendary comic strip feline was voiced by Actor Bill Murray.

Actor Samuel L. Jackson was most recently seen in the Apple TV+ series, ‘The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey’. He will next be seen in the much-awaited Disney+ series, ‘Secret Invasion’, which will release in the later part of 2022.

Besides these, Samuel L. Jackson, will be seen in 2023 in two big MCU movies – ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ and ‘The Marvels’, where he will reprise his MCU character, Nick Fury.

This upcoming ‘Garfield’ animated feature is expected to release in theatres on November 22, 2023.
