Sarah Jessica Parker breaks silence on “catfight” with co-star Kim Cattrall

The rivalry between Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP) and her ‘Sex and the City’ co-star Kim Cattrall is almost as famous as the TV show itself.

Their troubles getting along on the sets have been going on for years with Kim Cattrall categorically stating on multiple occasions that she will never reconcile with SJP.

This was also the reason why Kim Cattrall refused to join the revival of ‘Sex and the City’ show, titled, ‘And Just Like That’.

Now SJP has talked about in a new interview and said that this “rivalry” has been quite painful for her. She also shared that she doesn’t like it when people label her relationship with Kim Cattrall a “catfight”.

Just a few months earlier in 2022, ‘Sex and the City’ returned to TV with a new spin-off show called ‘And Just Like That’. The show brought back the old characters, so SJP played Carrie Bradshaw, Kristin Davis reprised her role as Charlotte York Goldenblatt and Cynthia Nixon came back as Miranda Hobbes. Kim Cattrall who played Samantha Jones refused to come back though.

Speaking about it to The Hollywood Reporter’s Award chatter podcast on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, Sarah Jessica Parker said, “It’s so painful for people to keep talking about this ‘catfight’—a fight, a fight, a fight. I’ve never uttered fighting words in my life about anybody that I’ve worked with ever. That is not the way I would have it. So, I just wish that they would stop calling this a ‘catfight’ or an ‘argument,’ because it doesn’t reflect [reality]. There has been one person talking.”

A few years earlier Kim Cattrall had mentioned that she would never be returning to the franchise and at the time she mentioned the reason being her ongoing tension with her co-stars. In 2018, the world at large was sure that all was not well between Kim Cattrall and SJP when the former took to Instagram to vent out at Sarah. In a public post, responding to SJP posting condolences to Kim on the passing of her brother, Kim wrote in a post, “I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time Sarah Jessica Parker,” she posted. In the caption, she called Sarah ‘hypocrite’ and ‘cruel’. She said, “Let me make this very clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So, I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”
