Bollywood and TV actor, host, Shekhar Suman is making his way back to the small screen after a break of 5 years. He will be judging the reality comedy show ‘India’s Laughter Champion’ along with Archana Puran Singh.
In an interview with TOI, Shekhar Suman spoke about his comeback and what prompted him to take up the show.
He said, “I judged the first two seasons of the show (The Great Indian Laughter Challenge) along with Navjot Singh Sidhu and at that time Kapil Sharma and Sudesh Lehri were contestants on the show. Later the show was judged by Akshay Kumar. Now it is returning and I will be judging it along with my old colleague and friend Archana Puran Singh.”
Shekhar Suman expressed excitement over coming back to the small screen and spoke about his co-judge Archana Puran Singh. He said, “Archana and I did three films together and funnily those films ran into some trouble when they were ready for release. Archana is a great colleague and we gel well together. I am glad that finally we are judging a show together.”
Shekhar was then asked about comedy shows that are currently airing on TV and the actor-host said, “I feel that comedy is not supposed to be loud and making people laugh does not mean you use abusive words or use derogatory words. I enjoy clean humour and feel that it is possible to make people laugh in the simplest way. TV used to have good comedy shows, but over the years I feel that we need new talent now. It is time for humour to evolve and make way for newer talent to take over and be part of comedy shows.” The show, ‘India’s Laughter Champion’ will be replacing ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ from the second week of June.
