Sonu Nigam talks about Lata Mangeshkar’s stage fright on ‘Naam Reh Jaayega’


Television show ‘Naam Reh Jaayega’ is a tribute to India’s nightingale of India the late Lata Mangeshkar.

The show is eagerly awaited by audience as they get to relive the beautiful memories of Lata Mangeshkar. She was one of the greatest performers of the country and owned the stage the moment she walked in, but on the show, it is revealed that her path to eternal fandom was not an easy one.

‘Naam Reh Jaayega’ will chronicle the life and stardom and especially the music of the eternal singer and on the show a great number of popular singers will take centre stage to pay tribute to the singer.

She was an artist in every sense of the word, but it seems her path to the stage was mired in sacrifices and she too had to battle her own personal demons before going up on stage to perform.

Sharing a story from Lata Mangeshkar’s life, Sonu Nigam shared, “There was one stage performance that was in Detroit where Lataji was supposed to sing with Mukeshji but Lataji has no idea that her fear of stage will come back and the stage that took away her father once will also take away her elder brother as well. The demise of Mukeshji had a sad effect on Lata Mangeshkar and Lataji again stopped performing on stage.”

The series, ‘Naam Reh Jaayega’ is an eight-part series which will feature India’s eighteen biggest singers – Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, Arijit Singh, Nitin Mukesh, Alka Yagnik, Neeti Mohan, Udit Narayan, Sadhana Sargam, Kumar Sanu, Shaan, Jatin Pandit, Amit Kumar, Aishwarya Majumdar, Javed Ali, Pyarelal Ji, Sneha Pant, Anwesha and Palak Munchhal.

All these singers are coming together to pay tribute to the late Lata Mangeshkar. Each episode airs at 7 PM every Sunday on Star Plus.
