‘The Night Manager’ series happens to be an extremely popular British spy thriller show. The original British show features Tom Hiddleston in the lead.
There was plenty of excitement when news of the show being adapted for Indian audience started making the rounds. The first buzz around the show was sky high as there were rumours that Hrithik Roshan has been roped in to lead the show.
That however didn’t last long. For various reasons, Hrithik did not come on board the project and the next set of news on the subject was that actor Aditya Roy Kapur has signed up for the Hindi adaptation of ‘The Night Manager’.
However, not many would be aware that before Aditya Roy Kapur signed up for the role, the makers had another actor in mind and it was none other than international actor Ali Fazal.
For now, the reports confirm that the ‘Malang’ actor has come on board the Hindi remake of the British series, which will be called ‘Captain’ but originally it was Ali Fazal who the makers wanted to lead the show.
But Fazal has a packed work schedule. He has a Hollywood movie with actor Gerard Butler and he also has the shoot for season 3 of his popular web series, ‘Mirzapur’ and because of this he had no dates available for this project and so he had to refuse the tempting offer.
As reported by Bollywood Hungama, a source close to Fazal told the portal, “Ali was approached soon after Hrithik couldn’t do the project. The team was figuring out the perfect schedule to ensure the project starts on time – however, it was getting stuck between dates. Ali was already committed to do Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya and then also season 3 of Mirzapur and hence owing to these issues, he eventually had to let go of The Night Manager remake.”
‘The Night Manager’ remake has been in the works for more than two years now. It was first delayed a lot because of the pandemic and then it was stalled as the lead Hrithik Roshan could not join the project and they again had to scout for another lead. Now that the principal cast is in place, it remains to be seen when the project will kick off production. Ali Fazal, meanwhile, will be seen soon in the role of an intelligence officer in the Netflix movie, ‘Khufiya’. The actor has also been roped in for an intense action drama, ‘Kandahar’, which will start production soon.
