Telugu superstar Ram Charan is getting a lot of praise for his performance and his chemistry with co-actor Jr. NTR in ‘RRR’.
Ram Charan has been a mainstay in Telugu cinema for years now and enjoys a massive fan following in South India. He made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with ‘Zanjeer’, starring opposite Priyanka Chopra.
The movie was a remake of the 1973 blockbuster movie of the same name, which starred Amitabh Bachchan as the lead.
The movie was shot simultaneously both in Hindi and Telugu with Sanjay Dutt playing an important role in the Hindi version and actor Srihari playing the same role in the Telugu version.
During the promotions of the movie, actress Priyanka Chopra, who at the time was still only in Bollywood had admitted that she was surprised at the massive fan following that Ram Charan enjoyed.
During a press conference, Priyanka said, “I didn’t know Ram much before Zanjeer. I was not aware of his popularity until we visited Hyderabad for the film’s shoot.” She also spoke about the experience of shooting with a star like him. She said, “Around 300 fans always used to follow us wherever we would shoot in the city. He is a superstar and has got loyal fans.”
Ram Charan also opened up during the promotions of ‘RRR’ and spoke about working in Hindi movies. He said, “RRR is very much a Hindi film as it is a Telugu film, it is a pan-India film. Today, thanks to efforts by a lot of filmmakers, especially Rajamouli, the gates of this industry have opened. We have stopped being regional and we have become a part of one big Indian film industry, the barriers are broken. So, as and when an opportunity comes, why not, I will do any film. The scale of RRR, and how many languages the film will release in will break all barriers. It is all about the excitement.”
Meanwhile Priyanka Chopra will soon be seen the web series ‘Citadel’ which is being directed by Antony Joe Russo. She also has a Bollywood movie lined up, Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Jee Le Zara’ which also stars Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhat.
