Zac Efron roped in for ‘Iron Claw’, a wrestling dynasty movie

Hollywood actor Zac Efron seems to be on a signing spree. Only yesterday it was reported that he has signed up for a romantic comedy with Netflix which also stars Nicole Kidman and Joey King. Now the ‘High School Musical’ star has reportedly signed up for yet another project, this time a wrestling dynasty saga titled, ‘Iron Claw’.

As reported by Deadline, the movie is based on the true story of the Von Erichs family. The movie follows the rise and fall in fame of the Von Erichs family, a dynasty of wrestlers who have made a big impact on the sport of wrestling from way back in the 60s to present day.

This latest drama has been written and directed by Sean Durkin. The movie will be produced by A24. And the other producers attached to this project include Harrison Huffman, Tessa Ross and Derrin Schlesinger.

The movie is being developed by House Productions with assistance from BBC Films and Access Entertainment. Of the six siblings in the Von Erichs family, only one – Kevin Von Erich is alive. He is 65 years old now.

Kevin had previously shared his family’s story in the docuseries, ‘Dark Side of the Ring’. Von Erich retired as a wrestler way back in 1995, but he would make the occasional appearance in WWE programming.

Von Erich briefly came out of retirement in 2017 for a tag team match in which he participated with his sons Marshall and Ross.

Zac Efron was last seen in the movies, ‘Firestarter’ and ‘Gold’. He will soon be seen in the war drama, ‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’ helmed by director Peter Farrelly and the drama also stars Bill Murray and Russell Crowe.
