3 arrested after an armed carjacking in Burlington, 2 suspects still at large

Burlington (Mar 15) – Halton police arrested three individuals who were involved in the theft of at least two vehicles in Burlington.

On March 13 at around 7:10 am, police responded to the area of Burloak Drive and Sutton Drive in Burlington, receiving report of a Ford Explorer that had been stolen from a residence driveway. The Ford Explorer was followed by a Ford F150. Officers observed both vehicles in the area of Appleby Line where police initiated a brief pursuit which was discontinued for reasons of public safety.

Five minutes later, officer received a report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Guelph Line and Upper Middle Road in Burlington, involving a Ford F150 and Ford Explorer. Five occupants associated to both vehicles attempted to flee the area, however three occupants were arrested, police said in a news release.

Prior to police arrival, the fourth suspect brandished a knife and punched the driver of a silver Volkswagen Jetta who was stopped near the scene of the accident. The suspects stole the vehicle and fled the area. The Jetta driver suffered minor physical injuries and was transported to a local hospital for assessment. Both vehicles involved in the accident were confirmed as stolen. Police are continuing to search for the silver Volkswagen Jetta and two outstanding suspects.

Scott Guitar (34), William Hannah (36) and Shane Martin (48) all from Hamilton face several charges including theft of a motor vehicle.

Guitar and Hannah have also been charged with fail to comply with probation order.
