Mississauga (Jan 11) Investigators from the Provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force (PCJTF) and Peel police have charged four men following an armed carjacking that occurred in Brampton.
It is alleged that on Saturday, January 6 the victim parked his motor vehicle in the driveway of the residence near Mayfield Road and Creditview Road in Brampton. While standing near the trunk, the victim was approached by the suspects, who forced him back into the residence at gunpoint. The suspects demanded the vehicle keys and fled in the victim’s car.
The victim sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the robbery; however, they declined medical attention.
Coordinated efforts of investigators from the PCJTF and Peel Regional Police resulted in two suspects being located shortly after the robbery and two more being located in a residence nearby.
With the assistance of the Peel Regional Police Tactical Unit, all four suspects were arrested without incident. At the time of the arrest, one suspect was in possession of a loaded mini Draco AK47 firearm with ammunition that was seized by police. The victim’s vehicle has been recovered.
Elijah Kerridge-Lall (21) from Whitby as well as Jaden Jones (21), Romello Buchanan (23) and Jaiden Waite (22) all from Brampton, face a total of 18 charges including robbery with a firearm.
All four men appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for bail hearings on January 8.
As a result of the rising incidents of violence related to auto crimes across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), local police services have combined resources and established a provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force (PCJTF) to coordinate further law enforcement efforts in combating these crimes.
This collaborative approach aims to disrupt the networks responsible for violent and high-risk auto thefts and maximize enforcement efforts against criminal organizations.
Co-led by the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police, the task force is a collaboration between police services from across the GTA, including York Regional Police, Halton Regional Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police, and other external agencies, including Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario.
