Leafs captain John Tavares to join charity game in support of Brampton’s second hospital

Brampton hockey fans will be delighted to learn that John Tavares will take part in a charity game being played at the CAA Centre on Wednesday, August 23 in support of the city’s second hospital.

The Toronto Maple Leaf’s captain joins Hockey Night in Brampton’s all-star line up of previously announced players Mark Giordano (Toronto Maple Leafs), Sean Monahan (Montreal Canadian) and Jeremy Roenick (hockey legend); as well as coaches Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour.

“We are so incredibly excited to have the support of Toronto Maple Leafs Captain and icon John Tavares as he laces up for a night of fun in support of Osler Foundation to build Brampton’s second hospital,” Mayor Patrick Brown said in a statement. “To have players and community role models like Tavares join us, it truly demonstrates the collective difference we can make for important causes in our community.

“We are counting down the days until the big event and hope to see you, your family and friends there,” the mayor added.

Preliminary site work is underway on the new Brampton hospital that will have a multi-storey patient tower with room to grow, new and expanded outpatient services, and Brampton’s second 24/7 Emergency Department.

Brampton’s second hospital is expected to be larger than many other community hospitals in Ontario.

Tickets for Hockey Night in Brampton cost $15 and can be purchased online via Ticketmaster.
